KooshBalls for OpenLaszlo revisited – CSS transform based rotation with Webkit

by Raju Bitter on August 3, 2009

Don Hopkins implemented a Koosh Balls Generator in OpenLaszlo’s LZX language back in 2005. I wondered what the performance of the application would be like with the OpenLaszlo DHTML runtime in Safari 4.x.

Right now there’s still a small bug with rotation and Safari in OpenLaszlo trunk. I tested with a patched version on my machine. If you want to see the application in DHTML mode in action, follow this link. Currently this application will only run in Safari 4.x and Webkit 523.10 or higher. Click anywhere on the app background, keep the mouse button pressed and move your mouse around. And Koosh you go!

If you don’t have Safari on your machine, you can still see what the app looks like. Here’s a video showing the app running in SWF8, SWF9 and DHTML/JavaScript runtime. That’s the multi-runtime power of OpenLaszlo.
